AFGHANISTAN - NASTARAN - ENSEMBLE KABOUL -
Here at last is a recording by an ensemble formed in 1995 with the aim of keeping Afghanistan's rich cultural heritage alive. Its repertoire covers a wide range of musical styles: Afghanistan lies at the crossroads of Indian, Persian and Arabian traditions.
The ethereal melodies of the Tajik bards, ecstatic celebratory pieces and the subtle perfume of Indian ragas are to be found side by side with brilliant instrumental compositions involving the rubâb and the
santûr, the tablâ, the zirbaghali and the darbukka, and the oriental harmonium.
These outstanding musicians present a very colourful recording, rich in emotion!
